The Ned | London

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to stay in the newly opened Ned hotel in London. Marked as ”London’s hottest new hotel” with live music each night and packed out bars and restaurants there is no denying that this is the place to be if you’re in London right now.

The Ned is an old Midland Bank building that has been restored and renovated in to a stunning 5 star hotel. They have certainly taken every possible step to turn this building in to something special whilst preserving some key features of the former bank. It is part of the Soho House and as such, features facilities exclusively for members of their private members club.

From the minute the porter took my luggage and I stepped inside the virbrant hotel I felt like I had gone back in time. The ground floor is so vast, you have to walk past some of the restaurants and the main bar to get to the hotel reception, I seriously didn’t know where to look first.

Feeling quite overwhelmed and about as fabulous as little orphan Annie having just stepped off a 7 hour flight and taken a 1.5 hour taxi ride, I honestly felt like I might burst in to a verse of ‘I think I’m gonna like it here’ any second.

The room was just as stunning as the communal areas of the hotel with every tiny detail taken care of. I have to say I was most impressed at the array of Cowshed products in the bathroom… FULL SIZE might I add!

However if you’re planning to do a ‘Ross from friends’ and try to recoup some of the money spent on your hotel stay by taking whatever is on offer in the room, be aware that if a full sized product accidentally fell in to your bag it would cost you a minimum of £18 per bottle! Needless to say I only took the complimentary travel sized products.

There was also the most beautifully arranged mini bar with equally stunning glasses of all sizes. Along with fluffy slippers, huge robes and a Nespresso machine! It really is hard to find a reason to leave your room.

Some of the hotel facilities including some of the bars and restaurants are off limits to the general public however, as a guest of the hotel you get temporary membership to the private members club during your stay. This includes the Vault bar in the basement and the rooftop bar/restaurant and pool. If you’re lucky you might spot a famous face or two!

The view from the roof is just beautiful especially as the sun goes down but that view is something you just have to etch in to your memory as photos aren’t allowed in the members areas….AT ALL! Not even of the skyline, as I found out after getting told off twice!

I did get a couple of cheeky photos though before I was told that the skyline is off limits for pictures!

There are nine restaurants to choose from serving different food from around the world, including Italian, British and Californian! There is also a spa, gym, beauty parlour and mens barbershop. What more could you ask for?

I stayed at the Ned for three nights, however, as I was in London for work I really didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked taking full advantage of the hotel.

Whilst this hotel isn’t the cheapest option in London, I would definitely recommend stopping by for one of their live music nights, you won’t regret it!
